Bridges & Structures Service

The ‘Term Service Provider’ for Bridges & Structures is FM Conway who provide an integrated service in respect of the inspection, maintenance and improvement to the City Council’s Bridges and Highway Structures.

FM Conway is responsible for day to day management of the Bridges and Highway Structures owned and maintained by the City Council ensurithat they are maintained to the highest standard and remain fit for this purpose.  

This is achieved by:

• Implementation of routine inspections to ensure the public are safe and to identify the need for maintenance in the long and short term
• Routine, reactive, electrical and mechanical maintenance, ensuring cleanliness and safety
• Providing 24 hr emergency call out and repair service for all Bridges and Highway Structures
• Identification and Implementation of a programme of an annual Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM)
• Management of the Pipe Subway.
• Providing urgent structural advice, for example when vaults collapse and advising on the impacts of abnormal loads moving across the City Council's structures
• Technical Approval of Highways Structures
• A programme of Capital Improvements to prolong and enhance the load carrying capacity and appearance of the City Councils structures
