Phase 2b work on Regent Street (St James's) is now complete.

The area of Regent Street formerly known as 'Lower Regent Street' was formally renamed 'Regent Street (St James's) in September.

Regent Street (St James's) remains as a one-way street southbound. The project has made the following improvements:

• Significantly widening and repaving the footway using high quality materials (York stone);
• Reconstructing part of the road and resurfacing all of it;
• Improving pedestrian crossing facilities;
• Replacing the street lighting with modern units mounted on buildings;
• New central islands to provide more informal crossing points;
• Removing street clutter.
