Wilton Place Pedestrian Improvements

Wilton Place Pedestrian Improvements

Ward: Knightsbridge and Belgravia

Streets Affected: Wilton Crescent, Wilton Place

Project Type: Traffic, Safety & Parking

Project Overview

Local residents and Ward Members had raised concerns about speeding at the junction of Wilton Place with Wilton Crescent.

The City Council commissioned a Feasibility Study that identified opportunities to both address local residents’ concerns and to improve the layout of the wide junction which was perceived to be hazardous for pedestrians.

Following public consultation, the City Council has implemented the recommendations, and the following improvements to the area have been made:

  • Changes to the kerb line on the east side of the junction.
  • The construction of a larger central reservation.
  • An increase in the number of residents’ parking spaces.

The width of the carriageway to be crossed by pedestrians has been greatly reduced.
