Cycle Parking in Westminster - Various wards

Cycle Parking in Westminster - Various wards

Ward: Marylebone

Streets Affected:

Project Type: Sustainable Transport (Buses, Cycling etc)

Project Overview

TfL has provided funding for the provision of cycle parking within 1.5km of the Barclays Cycle Superhighway Route 8 (Grosvenor Road), and in Westminster they have agreed to extend the catchment area to cover the original route alignment up to Trafalgar Square.

The programme for 2011/12 is for the installation (subject to approval) of 50 Sheffield stands and 50 Cycle hoops (200 spaces) across the City of Westminster.

All proposed sites are locations where cycle parking has been requested, or a demand has been demonstrated.  Stands are only installed on existing footway areas where there is suitable space and stands are carefully positioned so as to avoid any undue effect on other road users. Cycle hoops are positioned on sign posts that will not obstruct the opening of car doors or impact on pedestrian movements.

To date we have identified 15 sites for the installation of 50 cycle stands and cycle hoops. The locations for the 50 cycle stands are listed below.  The 50 cycle hoops have already been installed this month.
