Hermitage Street Pedestrian and Cycle Access

Hermitage Street Pedestrian and Cycle Access

Ward: Hyde Park

Streets Affected: Harrow Road, Hermitage Street

Project Type: Traffic, Safety & Parking

Project Overview

There is a long-term desire to create a north-south cycle route crossing the Regent’s Canal, continuing north beyond Harrow Road.

In order to do this it will be necessary to provide a link across Harrow Road. As part of the street sweeper development on Harrow Road, a Toucan crossing has been installed linking the north side of Harrow Road with Hermitage Street.

To complete the link it is necessary to provide contra-flow cycling in Hermitage Street as well as suitable ramped access from Harrow Road into St Mary’s Terrace.

The provision of a ramp will also facilitate improvements to the street scene in the immediate vicinity of the ramp.
