Project Overview
In 2014 Westminster City Council commissioned Publica to complete the Soho Public Realm Study. As part of the action plan for this study the City Council has now commissioned FM Conway to carry out a public realm design for Berwick Street North. The following objectives have been followed: - Maintain the unique character of Soho; - Improve pedestrian experience; - Improve accessibility for all users; - Maintain the materials palette of a hard working neighbourhood; - Improve wayfinding whilst maintaining Soho's network of inter-connecting routes; - Improve cycling into and within Soho; - Increase cycle parking provision; - Accommodate vehicles and servicing without compromising other street functions; - Ensure the integration of new developments; - provide amenity to keep Soho's public realm inviting
A first round of public consultation was carried out in February/March 2016, following this a design was completed which has now received Cabinet Member Approval to proceed with detailed design and construction. A series of Public drop-in sessions were held during January 2017 to provide an opportunity for local businesses and residents to discuss this scheme in detail. Additional Traffic Management Order (TMO) Consultation regarding the proposed changes to the waiting/loading and parking restrictions was carried out from Friday 13th January 2017 for a period of 3 weeks, the details of which are shown in the Project Documents below

Works completed
Outline Programme
Construction works commenced on 5th June 2017 with an anticipated 8 month construction period. The works will be carried out under a series of road closures with suitable diversion to be put in place. Access to all properties will be maintained at all times.
