Project Overview

This project involved:

  • The introduction of diagonal pedestrian crossings at Oxford Circus;
  • Resurfacing the carriageways of Oxford and Regent Streets at Oxford Circus;
  • Widening of footway areas at Oxford Circus and repaving with new York stone paving slabs;
  • Replacement of worn and damaged road kerbs with new granite kerbs;
  • The closure and decommissioning of the Oxford Circus underground public conveniences to facilitate the realignment of Oxford Circus;
  • Amending waiting and loading restrictions in Oxford, Regent, Princes, Little Argyll and Argyll Streets to improve traffic flows and to reduce congestion;
  • Pedestrianisation of Princes Street
