Project Overview
This project involved:
- The introduction of diagonal pedestrian crossings at Oxford Circus;
- Resurfacing the carriageways of Oxford and Regent Streets at Oxford Circus;
- Widening of footway areas at Oxford Circus and repaving with new York stone paving slabs;
- Replacement of worn and damaged road kerbs with new granite kerbs;
- The closure and decommissioning of the Oxford Circus underground public conveniences to facilitate the realignment of Oxford Circus;
- Amending waiting and loading restrictions in Oxford, Regent, Princes, Little Argyll and Argyll Streets to improve traffic flows and to reduce congestion;
- Pedestrianisation of Princes Street
- Improved safety for pedestrians.
