Project Overview

Westminster City Council has commissioned its service provider, FM Conway Limited, to undertake public realm and cycle improvement works on Abingdon Street and the surrounding highway network in Westminster, London. The works will include the following:

• Introducing a northbound stepped cycle track Throughout the scheme;
• Installing Copenhagen crossings at the junctions of Great College Street and Great Peter Street, with the Copenhagen crossing at Dean Stanley Street deferred until the completion of 7 Millbank;
• Introducing a raised table at the zebra crossing near Great College Street;
• Reconfiguring the traffic island at the zebra crossing near Dean Stanley Street;
• Converting the bus lane to 24/7 operation; and
• Installing cycle-friendly gullies where required.

Outline Programme

Phase 2 (Abingdon Street): starting on 5th June 2026 for six days to 10th June 2026, between 08:00 am - 17:00 pm;

Phase 9 & 10 (Millbank): starting on 15th June 2026 for fourteen days to 28th June 2026, between 08:00 am - 17:00 pm;

Phase 7 (Millbank): starting on 6th July 2026 for fifteen days to 24th July 2026, between 08:00 am - 17:00 pm;

Phase 3 (Great College Street): starting on 27th July 2026 for twenty days to 14th August 2026, between 08:00 am - 17:00 pm;

Phase 4 & 5, Phase 1 and Phase 6 to be confirmed

Phase 8 to be completed following the completion of 7 Millbank
