Lowndes Street Pedestrian Crossing

Lowndes Street Pedestrian Crossing

Ward: Knightsbridge and Belgravia

Streets Affected: Lowndes Street

Project Type: Traffic, Safety & Parking

Project Overview

The City Council with input from various sources decided to commission the design of a new pedestrian crossing facility across Lowndes Street.  It was deemed that a zebra crossing would best suit this location and its actual positioning was chosen to cause the least impact on the surrounding parking bays, and waiting and loading restrictions.

  • New zebra crossing with refuge islands.
  • Improvement to street lighting around new crossing.
  • New anti – skid treatment on approaches to crossing.
