Ward: West End Streets Affected: Piccadilly, Piccadilly Circus Project Type: Major Projects

Phase 3 work on Haymarket and Charles II Street started in Spring 2014 and will be ongoing until late 2015.

This is programmed as follows:
Haymarket East side: May 2014 to January 2015
Haymarket West side: February to July 2015
Charles II Street: July to September 2015

Work taking place in this area includes:

• Significantly widening and repaving the footway using high quality materials;
• Removing the bus lane and reducing the number of traffic lanes to three, though Haymarket will remain as a one-way street;
• Reconstructing and resurfacing the road;
• Providing a new parking and loading area between Planet Hollywood and Cineworld and reorganising the parking arrangements on Charles II Street;
• Improving pedestrian crossing facilities;
• Replacing the street lighting with modern units on feature lamp columns;
• Removing street clutter.
